About Answers In Action

Answers In Action is a dynamic non-profit, evangelical, Christian organization based in Costa Mesa, California, which trains individuals to think logically and reasonably about all things. Answers In Action is governed by a Board of Directors, and it is supported by tax-deductible donations. Answers In Action is committed to helping individuals, both Christians and non-Christians, seek and find Truth. Answers In Action equips Christians to be effective and successful witnesses, evangelists, and apologists for the Christian faith and to adopt sound reasoning and solid critical thinking. Answers In Action produces articles and newsletters, sponsors classes and seminars, provides mentoring and intern opportunities, leads field trips for evangelism and apologetics, and participates in lectures and debates, both Christian and secular.

The apostle Paul’s words in 2 Timothy 2: 24-26 serves as the ministry’s theme:

"And the Lord’s servant must not quarrel; instead he must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Those who oppose him he must gently instruct, in the hope that God will give them a change of heart leading to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will."

Answers In Action is co-directed by Bob and Gretchen Passantino. This husband and wife team has spent almost three decades as servants of the Gospel. They are respected in the fields of apologetics, evangelism, philosophy, and theology. Bob and Gretchen have been beloved mentors, teachers, and friends to countless individuals who seek their insight over the years. In addition, they are respected and trusted by their peers.

The Passantinos have given seminars throughout the United States on a vast array of subjects such as the Christian’s duty to evangelize, logical thinking, the doctrine of the Trinity, biblical criticism, world religions, philosophy, how to study, and the occult. They teach several times a week at their church. For more than two decades they have led a weekly discussion forum called "Mars Hill" (the name is taken from Acts 17:19–34), and they welcome all thinkers to attend, Christians and non-Christians alike. They teach an in-depth weekly Bible study that can strengthen the faith of even the most knowledgeable of believers and provoke the thought of even the most skeptical of thinkers. Bob and Gretchen are frequent guests on radio discussions on secular and Christian stations around the country.

They have authored several books, including Answers to the Cultist at Your Door, Witch Hunt, When the Devil Dares Your Kids, Satanism, and The New Cults (Walter Martin, General Editor). They have also contributed chapters to many other books, including the Anniversary Edition of Walter Martin’s classic Kingdom of the Cults (Hank Hanegraaff, General Editor), for which Gretchen was also the Managing Editor. Answers to the Cultist at Your Door earned a Gold Medallion Award for Excellence in Christian Education. Cornerstone Magazine named Witch Hunt "Book of the Year in Christian Ethics" and When the Devil Dares Your Kids "Best New Book in Cults and the Occult."

The Passantinos have authored many original articles over the years for various publications. Several of them have been ground-breaking, award-winning journalistic articles that have been cited in professional journals and by experts in the fields about which they write. Satan’s Sideshow (co-authored with Jon Trott), for example, won the Evangelical Press Association’s Higher Goals in Christian Journalism award and it is cited in sociological and psychological journals and books. Other notable articles include: Overcoming the Bondage of Victimization: A Critique of the Cult Mind Control Model; From Catacomb to Vatican; The Hard Facts about Satanic Ritual Abuse; Satanic Ritual Abuse in Popular Christian Literature: Why Christians Fall for a Lie Searching for the Truth; and Imagine There’s No Heaven: Contemporary Atheism Speaks Out in Humanist Manifesto 2000.

Bob and Gretchen’s years of experience in the field, integrity, love for the Lord, love of Truth, and contributions to the Christian community and general marketplace of ideas establish them as credible authors, apologists, educators, philosophers, and theologians. Their unfaltering commitment to the furthering of His kingdom makes them mentors, teachers, and friends to individuals who seek their insight and also the respected and trusted comrades of their peers.
